Instructor

Divers choose to become a Dive Instructor for a variety of reasons. For some, gaining their Instructor qualification is simply about being able to share their passion for diving with others. For many, it’s a ticket to dive around the world while being paid to do so. For others, it is about achieving a goal to reach the pinnacle of their chosen activity. An Instructor certification can open the door to an exciting new career, or simply enhance your enjoyment of diving.

A candidate interested in taking this program must:

Be a RAID Divemaster or equivalent from a recognised training agency before certification.

Be a minimum of 18 years old.

Have been a certified diver for a minimum of 6 months.

Submit proof of certification as a RAID Nitrox diver, RAID Deep 40 diver, from a recognised training agency.

Have experience in Night and Navigation dives (Suggested Certifications)

Submit proof of a minimum of 100 logged underwater hours or 200 logged dives.

Submit proof of certification in First Aid Instructor and Oxygen Administration Instructor.

If the candidate does NOT possess these two prerequisites:

They MUST have first aid and oxygen administration diver certifications.

Before earning an IDP Certification, the Candidate must be certified as a First Aid and Oxygen Administration Instructor.

In this case the Instructor Specialty program/s can be held, before, during or after completion of the IDP course.

The additional time required to complete these programs will be added to the IDP course time requirements.

Submit a medical signed by a Licensed Medical Practitioner within the previous 12 months stating the holder is fit to dive.

Submit a copy of diving instructor liability insurance, where applicable.

Divemaster

This course is designed to train and certify candidates as Divemasters, when qualified they will be qualified to function as Dive Guides and Assistant Instructors for qualified divers.

A candidate interested in taking this course must:

Be a minimum of 18 years old.
Submit proof of certification as a RAID Nitrox Diver, RAID Deep 40 Diver, or equivalent from a recognised training agency.
Have experience in Night and Navigation dives (Suggested Certifications).
Submit proof of certification as a RAID Master Rescue diver or equivalent from a recognised training agency.
Have a minimum of 15 logged underwater hours and a minimum of 45 dives.
At least 35 of these dives must have been conducted after completion of Open Water training.
Submit current certification of RAID First AID and RAID Oxygen Provider or equivalent.
Submit a medical signed by a Licensed Medical Practitioner within the previous 12 months stating the holder is fit to dive.
Complete the registration process, including all mandatory documentation.

First Aid & CPR

This qualification is for divers, diving support and diving instructors. It is not designed to be used as a non-diving workplace qualification; the generic skills learned on the course can be used in non-diving situations.

Be a minimum of 10 years old.

Oxygen Administrator

In this course, you will learn how to use oxygen, in a first aid situation, to help a casualty. You will discover that oxygen can actually be dangerous, and you will be shown precautions and procedures to ensure you and your casualty’s safety is maintained while handling and administering oxygen.

Be a minimum of 10 years old.

DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle)

The thrill of speeding through the water behind a diver propulsion vehicle (DPV) is an experience that really gets your blood racing. Using a DPV provides divers both immense fun and the means to achieve goals that would be impossible without their use.

Be a minimum of 15 years old.

Minimum of 1 confined water dive and 3 open water dives.

Sidemount

This innovative program is designed to teach divers the techniques and benefits of sidemount diving, where your cylinders are mounted alongside your body instead of on your back. This configuration allows for greater mobility, improved streamlining, and enhanced comfort, making it a popular choice among divers of all levels.

Minimum age 12.

Minimum of 1 confined water dive and 2 open water dives.

Nitrox Plus

Nitrox Plus is a two-cylinder course. Divers learn how to carry a bailout cylinder in addition to a regular back-mounted primary cylinder* using air, and nitrox mixes up to 50% oxygen.

*Course may be taken in sidemount or twinset configuration to meet redundant gas requirements.

Prerequisites: Be a minimum of 18 years old. 10 hours logged or 20 dives, Be certified as Deep 40 or equivalent, or certified as Explorer 30 or Advanced 35 or equivalent. Nitrox or equivalent.

Minimum of 1 confined water dive and 4 open water dives.

NITROX PLUS

BECOME A RAID NITROX PLUS DIVER

Our new Nitrox Plus course, launched in 2025, is specifically designed for recreational divers seeking the ultimate enjoyment and satisfaction from their diving experiences. It is the perfect first step for those looking to solidify their advanced recreational diving skills or for a solid start along RAID’s Open Circuit technical diving pathway. Nitrox Plus is a logical and credible choice for any diver who is serious about receiving quality instruction and benefiting from the additional safety that comes with carrying a redundant gas source.

TECHNICAL OC PATHWAY

REASONS TO TAKE THIS COURSE

Nitrox Plus is a two-cylinder course. Divers learn how to carry a bailout cylinder in addition to a regular backmounted primary cylinder*. It is your perfect opportunity to advance basic equipment management skills within a structured, modular learning environment.*Course may be taken in sidemount or twinset configuration to meet redundant gas requirements.

SKILLS (WHAT YOU’LL LEARN)

The maximum depth for this program conforms to the recreational diving limit of 40 meters /130 feet with divers breathing air and nitrox mixes. Although not billed as a staged decompression program, Nitrox Plus students will be trained how to manage a 10-minute safety/decompression stop.

OUTCOME

At the end of this course, divers will have demonstrated superior gas management planning, control of trim and buoyancy, buddy communications, as well as a high level of comfort and attention to detail. Certification in Nitrox Plus is a true achievement.

WHERE IT FITS IN

Nitrox

Advanced Wreck

Reels at the ready, lets tie some knots and explore . his specialty is designed to extend your knowledge and skills of diving to allow you to dive on wrecks safely including the penetration of wrecks. It develops the knowledge required to plan, prepare and analyse for your dive to reduce stress and confusion, allowing you to enhance your diving experience.

Be a minimum of 15 years old.

Minimum of 1 confined water dive and 4 open water dives.

Performance Diver

Designed to make you a better diver in almost any situation. The skills that you will learn in this course have been designed by some of the most respected divers in the world. Not only will this course make you a safer diver, prepare you for our other courses, but it will provide a range of skills you will use on every dive.

Be a minimum of 15 years old.

This course may be completed in pool, confined water or open water with a minimum of 2 dives.
